A friend and I were talking about yoga "what's the difference between the different types of yoga?" she asked me...

WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK

"Good question" I thought so turned to that trusty internet search site to find out.

Over 20 minutes later - after being side-tracked by my daughter wanting to show me her artwork, filling and emptying the washing machine (the joys of being a working from home mum) and then losing the first draft of this blog cos I didn't save it as I was going along - I'm now ready to regale you with what I found :o)

AMAZING WHAT YOU FIND OUT WHEN YOU LOOK

Now we all know that yoga is great for reducing anxiety, creating calm and relaxation and it increases both strength and bone density but did you know that there are about 9/10 different types of yoga?

LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY

Yes, who knew? I've done Iyengar - which helps with correct alignment and was great when I had the equivalent of a sort of slipped disc (the osteopath said the "soft bit between a couple of my vertebrae was bulging out" yuck!!) - and Ashtanga - which is more vigorous and energetic. I particularly wanted to find out about Kundalini and Vinyasa.

MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU

Kundalini yoga incorporates movement with dynamic breathing and meditation whereas Vinyasa concentrates more so on the flow of the movements....

OUR WELLNESS RETREAT

Anyhow, I for one can put my hands up and say yoga is a great supplement to any fitness regime and the best way to find out which one is for you is to come along and test out at least two of those different styles at our Retreat on 17-21 June with our yogis :o)
